Growing Up, So Sad...

I am sad. My baby is weaning himself. I just had a conversation with Brian about a week ago, and said that I wasn't ready to wean just yet - maybe in a couple of months. But Eli has other ideas. He is just too busy and doesn't have time for nursing. When I try to nurse, he just wiggles right out of my arms. And the last couple of times I've tried to nurse him, he's bitten me! Not a teething kind of bite, but an "I don't want to do this" kind of bite. So sad. And then last night, I tried to nurse him before we put him down to sleep, and he started blowing raspberries on my breast. It was actually kind of funny. Needless to say, I'm sure my milk has dried up. So it looks like Eli has made the decision for me to wean. It actually isn't as painful and sad as I'd thought. It's just one more reminder that he's not my baby anymore.

Here are a couple of photos of Eli's first meal wielding his own spoon. As you can see, it was quite messy, but I think he got the concept and even got a fair amount in his mouth.

He's giving me the evil eye, saying, "Why are you taking pictures of me? Stop it."

"Oh, forget it. This spoon takes way too long. I think I'll drink it instead."

These are Eli's cute little feet under the highchair. When he eats, he flexes and curls his little toes. I think it's adorable how he crosses his feet like he's lounging.

Awesome photos Amber! What a cute little guy Eli is. Looks like he's doing his job keeping you on your toes! Can't believe he's almost a year.
